Current Event 6 – Policy Basics: Deficits, Debt, and Interest
Principles of Macroeconomics
Policy Basics: Deficits, Debt, and Interest
“When the government runs a deficit, it increases the national debt; when the government runs a surplus, it shrinks the debt.” This article discusses three important budget concepts – deficits (or surpluses), debt, and interest (www.cbpp.org., 2013).
Deficit (or Surpluses)
For any given year, the federal budget deficit is the amount of money the federal government spends minus the amount of money it takes in, which is revenue. If the government takes in more money than it spends in a given year, the result is a surplus rather than a deficit.
A deficit is an excess of expenses over income in a given time period. When the economy is weak, people’s incomes decline, so the government collects less in tax revenues and spends more for safety-net programs such as unemployment insurance (Krugman, P., 2012). This is one reason why the deficit typically grows or a surplus shrinks during recessions. Conversely, when the economy is strong, the deficit tends to shrink or a surplus grows. Which would make sense because in a weak economy people and making and spending less money so less money is taxed.
Unlike the deficit, which drives the amount of money the government has to borrow in any single year, the national debt is the cumulative amount of money the government has had to borrow throughout our nation’s history. When the government runs a deficit, it increases the national debt; when the government runs a surplus, it shrinks the debt. This article mentions two kinds of debt, debt held by the public and gross debt. The debt held by the public (sometimes called net debt) measures the government’s borrowing from the private sector, including banks, investors and foreign governments. The second debt mentioned is gross debt which is held by the public plus the securities the…
Privacy Rights and The United States ConstitutionPOL303: The American Constitution
Instructor: Alexander Cohen
December 8, 2014Privacy Rights and The United States Constitution
The founding fathers of the United States of America fought hard to achieve an independent nation. An independent nation containing freedoms and rights for citizens that only the constitution can guarantee. One of the crucial rights guaranteed to U.S citizens today is the right to privacy, or the right to be left alone according to Brandeis and Warren. The right to privacy is not specifically mentioned in the constitution, it is however mentioned in the bill of rights. The bill of rights is the first ten amendments of the constitution, which protects many civil rights and liberties of all U.S citizens. The debate today is whether the constitution protects the privacy of citizens from being regulated and invaded by federalism.
Privacy is defined and interpreted differently depending on the person or persons involved. The one thing that is agreed upon is that privacy in all forms is a right and shall receive equal protection for all people under the laws of the constitution. This includes the right to our personal affairs to be let alone, financials, medical records, opinions, privacy of worship, privacy in our homes and intimate interactions. However right to privacy extends far beyond our personal lives and information being left alone and out of the public eye. In the past privacy was not something that was thought of so often, the most common forms of privacy invasion was trespassing onto private property and snooping. Today with the new technologies there is a lot more to worry about. All in all the government cannot be forgotten, as the government too breaches personal privacy.
As stated above the Constitution does not specifically mention that right for citizens to have privacy. It is however stated in the Bill of Rights four different accounts, pertaining to…
The box is not just a display for the Watch but it is also a charging dock.
(“Concept: Apple’s WATCH Packaging gets Super Charged,” 2014)The packaging you will use for your product or service and how it will add value.
Packaging products and services are seen as investments, rather than an added cost. Consumers judge the product based on it’s packaging, which can create a point of difference. The “package offer (bundle offer)” generates an image of the brand that when seen on a shelf, consumers are more prone to purchase when placed with an array of products.
Apple’s marketing mix is known for its simplicity and minimalist appearance. With the increasing amount of mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and now the Watch the marketing team needs to create a package offer. An ultimate design and experience for the consumers would be a concept that would hold all devices with minimal clutter. Apple’s package offer would include a charging dock with a power adapter and 2 USB’s inserts (“Concept: Apple’s WATCH Packaging gets Super Charged,” 2014). The charging dock would be a circular stand that would allow the Watch to wrap around at the bottom. The dock itself will have a magnetic strip that revolves around the dock allowing for the band to connect. The stand would have a center slit in order to stand and charge the iPhone. Supplementing the charging dock the USB will give the consumer the opportunity to charge their iPad (“Concept: Apple’s WATCH Packaging gets Super Charged,” 2014). The charging dock will give the Watch and iPhone together can be displayed and give it the opportunity to be the center of attention. The packaging will be as luxurious and seamless from unboxing to utilization (“Concept: Apple’s WATCH Packaging gets Super Charged,” 2014). The packaging will come in two different colors; white and black. The Watch’s product packaging service shows how Apple has listened and adapted to needs of the their consumers. The…
By definition Data security is the practice of keeping data protected from corruption and unauthorized access. (Data security).
This report is about how to provide a good security measure in order to protect the TOWN COUNCIL network.
TASK I: secure data storage and transfer
A. DATA PROTECTIONS ISSUES
Computer connected to network are more exposed to potential damages access by unauthorized hackers and the protection of a network is very complex and a big challenge due to so many data protection issues such as: PHYSICAL ACCESS
Unrestricted physical access to a computer or a network is a security threat that can compromise the security of a particular network. If a hacker has physical access to a network, it will expose the company’s data or business to a danger such as loss of information and Damage of hardware (PhysicalNetworkSecurity).
One of the measures that can be taken to prevent this is to lock up anything that can provide physical network access.COMPUTER VIRUS AND WORMS
A computer virus is an executable program that may cause damage of your hard disk contents (antivirus).

All organizations must set priorities to unite all their resources and energy. These priorities are important to meet organizational goals. Such strategic planning guides managers, employees and stakeholders to focus on their common aim. By using strategic management, an organization utilizes a methodical way so that all their resources combine with their mission to underwrite their future success. Changes incorporated into a common goal demand strategic management especially in health care organizations. “A well-crafted, duly executed strategic plan can provide numerous intangible, internal benefits for a health care organization’s culture, working environment and employees”(Reed, 2013). Today’s health care environment, with expectations of health care organizations constantly changing creates a compelling reason to employ strategic planning. To ensure success, the whole organization must be involved in strategic planning.
There are five essential components of strategic planning, and they are “engaging commitment, setting long term strategic objectives for improved performance of the organization, generating policy options. Evaluating and deciding on strategies and monitoring implementation of the policies against the long-term goals” (“Components of Strategic Planning”, 2005). Practical implementation of each of these components requires organizational extensive corroboration and accountability.
The strategic management process enhances all of the essential elements of strategic planning. An organization’s strategy and goals embedded in the strategic management process enables management to make better decisions. Such decisions lead to a better performance throughout the organization. “The five stages of the process are goal-setting, analysis, strategy formation, strategy implementation and policy monitoring” (Clayton, 2015).
Goal setting makes the vision clear of any organization. It is necessary to establish both short-term and long-term goals. The…
“The menu is the most important internal marketing and sales tool a restaurant has”(Pavesic, 2005).
Furthermore, as a “Dining menu ought to be informative, attractive and updated all the time for
customers to make order easily.” (Cheong, Chiew and Yap, 2010). Hence, an efficient menu should
prioritised communication and selling as it vitalist purpose.?(Kotschevar and Escoffier 1994; Hug
and Warfel 1991, cited by Kincaid and Corsun 2003, p.226). However, the analysis indicates that
the existing menu in Thai Balcony had reached neither essential principles nor customers’
expectation while digitalised menu which operated on interactive gadgets could be the remedy. The
conventional menu in Thai Balcony is boring, not perfectly informative and can not be updated
easily since it is paper-based. A digitalised menu can acquires all three elements; being attractive as
it enriched with multimedia components to present in an interactive and interesting way, being
informative as it can loads more data than paper-based menu and being convenient to update as it
based on IT program. Firstly, a digitalised menu is relatively engaging by providing various media
such as colourful photos and video clips. Secondly, the traditional menu in Thai Balcony is partially
informative owing to its ambiguous description, exotic vocabularies and inadequate space yet
digitalised menu can provide apparent explanation alone with sufficient information through varied
links and enormous capacity. For example, in-depth introduction, ingredient details and preparing
time could be seen in additional pages or tabs via clips also pictures and all the cuisines could be
categorised by its ingredient and taste. Vivid demonstration replaced unsure imagination and lead to
sufficient understanding, which aids customer accelerates the process of decision making.
Moreover, it can combined with Yelp as well as similar websites to provide customer reviews and

The Importance of Being on Time to Formations
In the military, being on time is very important. Marines are to be where they are told to be. Being a Noncommissioned officer, I need to show up on time, always. Junior Marines are always looking up to their noncommissioned officers, and to show them and inspire them to the higher standards possible, being on time is one of the most important thing a noncommissioned officer should do. There are a lot of things that shows true commitment to the Marine Corps and to the junior marines, and if I cannot be there at my appointed place of duty, what will the Marines under me think about me? The importance of being on time for formation includes obedience to orders, accountability, and inspiration to my Marines.
As an enlisted Marine, there will always be someone of a higher rank to give orders, and when they do, we have to abide by it and carry out the order for mission completion. The orders for formation are a key issue for multiple reasons and they are important. Marines should and will be always on time fora formation when told unless told otherwise, for example, they have a medical appointment, or a dental appointment, or any appointment that they need to go do during that time of the formation. This is why whenever there is a formation and the company gunnery sergeant, the company commander, or the battalion commander says the command, “report,” the marine holding the formation states, “…all presentor accounted for.” Accountability is important in the military.
Every marine has to be accounted for in their respective shops. The Officer in Charge of the platoon is accounted for the actions if the platoon and needs to know where every marine is and why.
