food

Vacations are a very wonderful experience, but when you’re spending it withyour family in a different state or out of the country it can be evenmore exciting. This summer I had a lifetime experience traveling to theBahamas on a big beautiful cruise ship. On the cruise the food was always hot, fresh, and ready to serve. The malls were so big and had many stores tochoose from it that it was unbelievable. There were many spa’s and night clubs. When we first arrived at the ship, I realized it was like somethingI never seen before. It was truly massive. When we got onboard and theship set sail, my family and I stould on the wooden deck and watched thewater of the deep blue sea. We all agreed that it felt like we were on theTitanic. I did struggle with some sea-sickness from the ship tilting leftMy favorite part of the trip was shopping. The cruise was so bigthat it had many shopping areas in it. The stores had a very wide selectionto choose from. It was so nice that the stores near the opening of thedock; however you could shop on the deck while sailing. It was so nice thatyou could just feel wind blowing through your hair. All things considered, shopping is always needed anywhere even while sailing in the large ocean.Besides the shopping, the other great experience was the food, mainly because it was always hot and ready to eat. The restaurant areahad 24-hour ice cream and pizza. The ice cream was sweet and cold and it tastedlike it was homemade. The pizza was also good – it was so fresh the every timeyou took a bite cheese would get everywhere.Another awesome part of the trip was arriving to the Bahamas. It was so beautiful; it was something you could imagine seeing onTV. As soon as we got off the ship, men were greeting us wearing strange brightyellow outfits. Walking through the busy and crowded city, we met a localman that took usPage 1 of 2

Taking a Look at Ourselves: An Essay on Professionalism
By Wayne S. Hyatt
I am not a professor of ethics or professional responsibility. Nor am I an “expert”
schooled in the finer points of theoretical professionalism. I am just a practicing lawyer…and a
real estate lawyer at that. So what warrant do I have to write about and to speak about
“professionalism”? Perhaps being a lawyer, proudly a real estate lawyer, who, as do many
others, cares about his profession is all the warrant I need. You may be the judge of that.
Fall 2008 marks my 40th anniversary as a member of the bar. Except for three years’
service in the U.S. Navy, I have engaged in the fulltime practice of law those 40 years. Because
of the rather unique nature of my practice, I have had the privilege of working with clients—and
local counsel—in all but two or three states. I have seen true professionalism. Regrettably, I
have also experienced the antithesis of a true professional. Those experiences, positive and
negative, also help shape one’s view of the very significant but too often misunderstood topic of
“professionalism.”
This essay does not cite scholarly reports or bar commissions. It does not cite cases. It
relies instead on experience and on ACREL’s own well-considered Statement of Professionalism,
and it is one person’s view of what it means and requires to be a professional. It is certainly not a
statement that the author is a model except to the extent he—and each reader of this essay—can
aspire to being the best we can be.
I hope it helps you in your professional life.
When I began practicing law 40 years ago, people did not talk about professionalism.
Professionalism as a defined, separate topic was not something that received much attention or
concern; people practiced as professionals but did not talk about “professionalism.” The bar was
small, and the bar did not rely upon a businesses model for how lawyers and law firms operated.
Lawyers’ firms were…

“What is Cultural Terrorism?” Reading Response
In Maya Mikdashi’s work “What is Cultural Terrorism?” she approaches the term “cultural terrorism” in a negative way and emphasizes on the rivalry between BDS, an activist group known as “freedom fighters” (par.02, Mikdashi), and SCTL, an online group against BDS. She does this by giving researched examples that relate to each issue and concludes her discussion by stating that terrorism has no fixed definition but is more or less determined within a politicized context, which is unique to every culture. It is easy to understand Mikdashi’s point of view especially through her convincing and factual examples that are affecting our lives today. Moreover, cultural terrorism, an aspect shared among all cultures especially Arab cultures, are matters that should be discussed and resolved.
Mikdashi begins by indirectly indicating how the word “culture” (par.01, Mikdashi) truly is a sensitive matter to be discussed for cultures differ and can be affected in different ways; for example, terrorism. Accordingly, cultural terrorists are those that are in opposition to the government and thus place the lives of many innocent people in danger including their own. Lebanon, one of the many examples she used, was and still is a victim of cultural terrorism. Living in Lebanon, it has become a tiresome routine to be informed of the terrorist bombs that occur frequently close by. It is kind of ironic how terrorists seek justice yet place the lives of many blameless people in jeopardy and thus bringing their entire society into mere destruction.
Furthermore, it is evident that Mikdashi is addressing her discussion to the Lebanese society from her use of certain locations like “Casino du Liban” (par.02, Mikdashi), a well-known place among Lebanese citizens. She also points out a recent case that occurred in that location and that caused uproar after Lara Fabian cancelled her performance. Her cancellation was as a result of BDS…

? Billings, Montana, 600 employees
? Sao Paulo, Brazil, 580 employees
? Warsaw, Poland, 975 employees
? Sydney, Australia, 340 employees

IDI has accounts with major market retailers, Federal governments, and large State governments. IDI operates a fleet of trucks in each country and has network interface agreements with subcontractors for freight forwarding, storage, and delivery.
IDI is responsible for the movement of goods, from multiple manufacturers and distributors to its clients, in a timely and efficient manner using cost-effective methods. Alternatively, IDI may transfer this responsibility to one of its JVs or SAs, if it is more cost-effective and the income differential is within acceptable limits.
IDI is also under pressure for several of its competitors in the logistics industry. The competitive market is driving IDI to improve its routes, delivery methods, fleet vehicles, and other facets of its business to increase profits (a strategic goal) and to reduce costs. The company realizes that the information technology infrastructure has been neglected for some time and that many operating locations are running on outdated hardware and software. On several occasions last year, IDI suffered no less than four network compromises through one of its JV Internet sites that led to the disclosure of sensitive and strategic information on contracts and mergers.
The chief information officer (CIO) made a strategic presentation to the board of directors and executive management to first assess the aging infrastructure and then, develop a multi-year phased approach to have all sites (except for JV and SA) on the same hardware and software platforms. Now that the funding has…

There are two ways of making money—legitimate and illegitimate.Despite the fact that there are no limits to acquiring money, but there is a limit to the employment opportunities.“The uses of every possession are two, both dependent upon the thing itself, but not in the same manner, the one supposing an inseparable connection with it, the other not; as a shoe, for instance, which may be either worn, or exchanged for something else, both these are the uses of the shoe; for he who exchanges a shoe with some man who wants one, for money or provisions, uses the shoe as a shoe, but not according to the original intention, for shoes were not at first made to be exchanged.”Possessions, such as shoes, are not originally made for bartering, but now there is an inseparable connection with the act of bartering possessions.“Besides, he who abounds in money often wants necessary food; and it is impossible to say that any person is in good circumstances when with all his possessions he may perish with hunger.”Food and other resources to survive are the main reason to acquire money. “…depend upon what a man has, all their care is to get money, and hence arises the other cause for this art; for as this enjoyment is excessive in its degree, they endeavour to procure means proportionate to supply it; and if they cannot do this merely by the art of dealing in money, they will endeavour to do it by other ways, and apply all their powers to a purpose they were not by nature intended for.”The reason for this art of acquiring money, is because man finds enjoyment in having excessive amounts of it. The man wants more money than he would actually ever need.“We have now considered that art of money-getting which is not necessary, and have seen in what manner we became in want of it; and also that which is necessary, which is different…
